There is an array of self-proclaimed beauty products out there aimed at evicting breakouts. But getting rid of acne isn’t always as simple as starting a new skincare regimen or using a killer spot treatment. Sometimes, acne is triggered by an internal problem that will only clear up after that problem is resolved. This stubborn acne might actually reveal you a lot about what’s going on in your body.

According to some alternative medicine practices, the area where your acne shows up can give you important hints about your internal well-being. The practice called “face-mapping” is used for the same. Face mapping is a popular method in ancient Chinese medicine & Ayurveda practice that focuses on the location of skin diseases on your face to detect its underlying cause.

We’ve charted out a list of 7 acne hot zones that could be signalling you about your health. Please take note that having a pimple or two in one of these areas doesn’t eventually mean you have a serious health issue, but if you have long-lasting acne that you can’t crush no matter how hard you try, it might be worth asking a professional to look into the internal link.
