“Ward off the Rapist” is an initiation by an artist to fight the issues like Sexism, Rape and Slut Shamming, with the help of Art and powerful Design.

A Design student, who feels strongly about the social issues against women, channels all her aggression into her Art. A picture has the power to incite a number of thought provoking desires in one’s mind. Thus, Vrushali takes advantage of this fact and tries to portray the brutal picture of rape crimes through her art. The XX-Files which is a photo narrative is created by the artist Vrushali Somavanshi which has become an upbeating news everywhere, making the people aware.

Vrushali in her narrative, documents the things that people generally keep outside their homes, like the Tulsi plant, picture of gods and goddesses and then she uses them to project the ruthless discrimination which our women have to suffer. There is a thing called “Nazar Battu” which appears as a very random motif in all her images. This symbol portrays a dry sarcasm in her pictures.
