After bitmoji, geofilter, lenses, voice & video calls and shazam, what’s next on the cult-favorite socializing app? Well, Snapchat is on a global mission to brand itself as the top-most way to stay updated with your friends and so it has recently launched its latest filter- Snap Map, adding another feather to its cap and giving its loyal patrons one more reason to stay glued on to their screens incessantly. With Snap Map, Snapchat is taking millenials’ stalking skills to a whole new level.
This newest feature lets you see your friends’ locations in real time and know where they’re currently snapchatting from (Lurkers, excited much?). It allows users to choose whether to share their location with all their friends or just a select few. Alternatively, users can also turn location sharing off (ghost mode) and just silently lurk on the map to see what their mates are up to and where they’ve been. What’s more? Users can even view stories from non-friends because Snapchat will make some available through the public “Our Story” option.
Snap Map can be accessed through a pinch-to-zoom gesture on the app’s camera screen. This feature will be available from today to all iOS and Android Snapchat users across the globe.
Speak of a small world.
“We’ve built a whole new way to explore the world! See what’s happening, find your friends, and get inspired to go on an adventure,” wrote Snap on its company blog to announce the feature.
